The front door just moved

Search changed in 2026. Most searches now end without a click.

The market shifted under every local firm at once. These are independent, named studies, not our numbers, and not a promise about your firm:

Default
Google made AI Mode the default way to search worldwide in May 2026, the biggest Search-box change in 25 years. (Google, 2026)
~83%
of searches with an AI Overview end with no click to any site (Pew, 2025); about 60% are zero-click (Bain, 2024).
~58%
lower click-through for the top result when an AI Overview shows, as they expanded through 2025. (Ahrefs, 2025)

What we found when we looked

We audited 93 UK firms. Most are invisible to the machines doing the recommending.

Our own foundations check across 93 UK accountancy websites found the machine-readable signals AI assistants rely on are mostly missing. Here's the general-practice cut, taken from the 24 firms whose homepages a simple crawler could even read:

0 of 24
readable firms had FAQ markup, the structured Q&A an AI can lift straight into an answer. Not one.
1 in 4
readable firms had no machine-readable identity data at all (6 of 24): nothing telling AI they're even an accountant.
18%
served a homepage a simple AI crawler read as blank (6 of 34): invisible before the contest starts.

For the wider picture (why this matters now) see our fully-sourced State of AI Search briefing (Google made AI Mode the default in May 2026; Pew found 83% of AI-Overview searches end with no click). How it works

Evidence first. Then the fixes.

No long sales calls. You see proof before you spend anything, and a plain-English plan after.

// step 01

The Snapshot

We run one or two of the questions your clients actually ask, across the major AI assistants, then send you the result. That includes who gets named instead of you. No cost, no card.

// step 02

The 48-hour Audit

For a flat £149, we test eight high-intent queries across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Claude, each run five times. We also check your foundations: Google Business Profile, ICAEW/ACCA listing, reviews and schema.

// step 03

Three fixes

You get a six-to-ten-page plain-English report and a 20-minute walkthrough. It covers where you stand, who's winning your queries, and the three highest-impact fixes. Ready to hand to your web person.

What's in your audit

A real deliverable, not a dashboard login.

Built around the questions your prospects ask, and the signals the AIs actually use to choose who to recommend.

  • Visibility across all four engines. ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Claude, tested separately, because being visible in one doesn't mean visible in the others.
  • The competitor map. Which firms get named instead of you, and the signals they have that you don't.
  • Your foundations. Google Business Profile, ICAEW/ACCA listing, reviews, and the schema markup the AIs read.
  • Three prioritised fixes. Quick win, medium, strategic. Plain English, with the "why", ready to action.
  • Dated & multi-run. Every query run five times; we report the consensus and note variance. Never presented as absolute.

Specialise in contractors or IR35? The first ~10 contractor-focused firms can claim the £99 Founding Audit: the full audit plus two fixes done for you.

Why Renownly

Specialist, fast, and honest about it.

Built for accountants

We test the queries your clients ask, from IR35 to contractors to e-commerce, plus the directories AI checks, like ICAEW and ACCA.

48 hours, flat £149

No drawn-out engagement and no surprise invoice. A real, dated report in 48 hours.

Proof, not a pitch

We show you the actual AI answer naming a competitor. You decide what it's worth before you spend a penny.

Plain English

Six to ten pages, three fixes, no jargon. Something you can hand to your team and actually use.

No lock-in

Buy a one-off audit and never hear a sales pitch again. The monthly option is rolling, so you can leave whenever.

Honest by design

We report the current state of your AI visibility and the best-practice fixes. We don't dress it up, and we don't sell guarantees.

Who's behind Renownly

A real person, not a faceless brand.

Saul Davis, founder

I'm a founder and builder who designs and ships software solo, using AI as my engineering team. I run a web and app studio, Silotica, with an AI lead-generation engine I built myself, alongside a handful of other ventures, while studying Business Enterprise Development at Aston University's Team Academy. I started Renownly because the way people find a firm has moved: clients increasingly ask ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google's AI answers for an accountant, and most good firms have no idea what those tools say about them. Renownly shows you, plainly and with evidence, then helps you fix the gaps. We're a new firm, and I'll put my name to the work.

Questions

The honest answers.

We get most of our clients by referral. Why does this matter?

Referrals still close, but the person being referred increasingly checks you first, and a growing share of that checking happens inside ChatGPT, Perplexity or Google's AI answers. If the AI names a rival when someone looks you up, you lose ground before the conversation starts. The Snapshot shows you exactly what they'd see.

Is £149 actually worth it?

One new client is usually worth many multiples of that over the time you keep them. The audit is a flat £149 with no retainer attached, and you see the free Snapshot first, so you know there's a real gap before you spend anything.

Can you guarantee AI will recommend my firm?

No, and you should be sceptical of anyone who does. AI assistants are run by third parties on systems that change without notice. We show you where you stand today and the fixes most likely to help. We report and advise; we don't promise rankings.

Isn't this just SEO?

Related, but not the same. A firm can rank well on Google and still be invisible in ChatGPT or Perplexity, because the overlap is small. We test the AI answers specifically, and the signals those engines actually use.

What do you need from me?

Your website, the locations you serve, your main services, and a couple of competitors if you have them in mind. That's enough to start. The Snapshot needs nothing but your firm name and town.

How do you handle my data?

We only use information you give us and what's already public. We're UK GDPR compliant, we don't share your data, and we won't use your competitive insights to help a rival. Our privacy policy and terms are linked below.

Why should I trust a new firm?

Fair question, so here are the real reasons. The Snapshot is free and you can verify it yourself by asking the AI the same question, so you're not taking anything on faith. We only report your current state and best-practice fixes; we don't sell guarantees. There's no lock-in: one audit, no retainer, no sales pitch afterwards. And the work is plain dealing throughout, with everything dated and sourced so you can check it.
