About Renownly
We help UK accountants get found and chosen in the AI era.
More and more people now ask ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini or Google's AI for an accountant. Most firms have no idea whether they come up, or whether a rival does instead. We make that measurable, then fixable. And we do it without selling promises nobody can keep.
Why we exist
The front door moved, and most firms never got told.
For years, a prospect looking for an accountant typed a search into Google and scrolled. Now a growing share of them ask an AI assistant instead, in plain language: "who's a good accountant for my limited company in Leeds?" The assistant doesn't hand back ten blue links. It names a few firms, and most people look no further than the names it gives.
That shift happened quietly. A firm can have a tidy website, good Google rankings and happy clients, and still be the firm the AI never mentions, because the signals these assistants read are different from the ones traditional SEO optimised for. Worse, almost nobody can see it happening to them. You don't get an alert when ChatGPT recommends the practice down the road instead of you.
Renownly exists to close that blind spot. We show you exactly what the AI assistants say when someone asks for a firm like yours, who gets named instead, and the specific, plain-English fixes most likely to change it. Evidence first. Then the fixes.
What makes us different
Specialist, fast, plain-spoken, and led by the evidence.
Not puffery. These are the concrete choices that shape how we work.
Built for accountants
We test the queries your clients actually ask, from IR35 to contractors to e-commerce, and the directories AI leans on, like ICAEW and ACCA. Not a generalist tool pointed at your sector.
Fast and flat-price
A real, dated report in 48 hours for a flat £149. The price is on the page, not behind a "contact us" wall, and there's no retainer attached.
Proof-first
We lead with the evidence: your firm's own dated foundations finding, and where rivals show up in the shared web index the major engines draw on (a proxy estimate, not a verbatim per-engine read), not a sales pitch. You decide what the gap is worth before you spend anything.
Plain English
Six to ten pages, three prioritised fixes, no jargon. Something a busy principal or practice manager can read and hand straight to the web person on Friday.
We run our own research
We checked the foundations on 93 UK firms across three specialisms (general practice, contractor and IR35, and e-commerce) to understand where the sector really stands. We publish the method and the limits, not just the headline.
No lock-in
Buy a one-off audit and never hear a sales pitch again. The optional monitoring is rolling, so you can leave whenever you like.
Our honesty stance
The most useful thing we can promise is what we refuse to promise.
Plenty of people will tell you they can guarantee AI recommends your firm. Nobody honestly can. Here's exactly where we stand, and why we think that's a feature.
// What we will and won't say
We report and advise. We don't sell guarantees.
- We never guarantee rankings or recommendations. AI assistants are run by third parties on systems that change without notice. Anyone promising a guaranteed result is either guessing or selling. We won't.
- We report your current state, then best-practice fixes. We show you where you stand today and the changes most likely to help, based on how these engines appear to work. We're clear about what's evidence and what's informed judgement.
- Findings are dated and multi-run. Every query is run several times and stamped with the date we tested it, because AI answers vary between runs and drift over time. We report the consensus and note the variance, never a single screenshot dressed up as the whole truth.
- You can check our work. The free Snapshot is something you can verify yourself by asking the AI the same question. Nothing here asks you to take us on faith.
How we test
Rigour you can see, not a black box.
An AI answer is a moving target. So we test it the way you'd want anything important measured: more than once, across more than one engine, with the date attached.
Four engines, separately
ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Claude, tested one by one. Visible in one doesn't mean visible in the others, so we never blend them into a single score.
Several runs each
Every query is run five times. AI answers shift between runs, so we report the consensus and flag where results were inconsistent.
Dated, point-in-time
Every finding carries the date we ran it. These engines change, so a result is a snapshot of that day, and we say so plainly.
Foundations, checked too
Beyond the answers, we inspect the public signals AI reads: Google Business Profile, ICAEW/ACCA listings, reviews and schema markup.
Our research
We didn't just form an opinion. We went and checked.
Before we said a word about how ready UK accountancy firms are for the AI front door, we measured it. Our first Foundations Report examined the public websites of 34 independent general-practice UK firms across ten cities (one of three specialism studies, 93 firms in total), using our own open-source check, to see whether the machine-readable signals AI assistants rely on were actually in place.
It's a small convenience sample, not a national census, and we say that loudly in the report. We name no individual firm with a shortcoming. Every number is reported exactly as measured, with the method and the limitations laid out in full. That's the standard we hold ourselves to before we ask you to trust a finding about your firm.

Who's behind Renownly
A real person stands behind this, and will tell you so.
We're a new firm. We'd rather say that plainly than hide it, so here's who's accountable for the work.
Saul Davis, founder
I'm a founder who designs, builds and sells software products solo, with AI as my engineering team. Alongside Renownly I run Silotica, a web and app studio, and a handful of other ventures. The same instinct runs through all of them: find a real problem, build the thing that solves it, and stay honest about what it does and does not do.
I built Renownly because the way people find a firm has changed. Clients now ask ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google's AI answers for an accountant, and most good firms have no idea what those tools say about them, or whether they name a rival instead. Renownly shows you, with evidence, then helps you close the gaps. We're a new firm, and I would rather say so than hide it. If it ships under my name, I stand behind it.
