This policy explains how Renownly uses cookies and similar technologies, in line with the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and the UK GDPR. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy.
01What cookies are
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They can be "strictly necessary" (needed for the site to work) or optional (for example, analytics or advertising). Under PECR, optional cookies can only be set with your consent. We do not set any optional cookies, so we do not show a cookie-consent banner. Our analytics are cookieless (see section 3), and we run no advertising or tracking cookies (see section 4).
02Strictly-necessary cookies
These are required for the website to work or to keep it secure, for example the bot check on our Snapshot form (see section 4). Under PECR regulation 6(4) they do not require consent because the site cannot operate properly without them. They are always on, and we use as few as possible.
| Purpose | Consent needed? | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Site function and security, including the Snapshot-form bot check | No (PECR reg 6(4)) | Always on |
03Analytics (cookieless)
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand how the site is used so we can improve it. It is privacy-first and cookieless: it sets no cookies, uses no client-side state, and does not fingerprint or track you across sites. It reports only aggregate figures, such as page views and which pages are popular.
Because it sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device, it does not require consent under PECR, and we do not show a cookie-consent banner. There is nothing here for you to opt in or out of.
| Purpose | Sets a cookie? | Consent needed? |
|---|---|---|
| Aggregate, cookieless website usage analytics (Cloudflare Web Analytics) | No | No (no cookie set) |
04Bot check on the Snapshot form
Our free Snapshot form uses Cloudflare Turnstile, a privacy-friendly bot check that confirms a real person is making the request, without the puzzles most people are used to. It replaces an advertising-style CAPTCHA and is there to stop automated abuse of the form.
Turnstile may set a strictly-necessary cookie when you submit the form, to run that security check. This is a security function the form needs in order to work, so under PECR regulation 6(4) it does not require consent. Cloudflare states that Turnstile does not use the data it collects for advertising and does not track you across sites. It runs only on the Snapshot form, not across the whole site.
05No advertising or third-party tracking
We do not use advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, or third-party tracking cookies. We do not build advertising profiles of visitors, and we do not share visitor data with ad networks.
06Managing your choices
- We set no optional cookies, so there is no cookie banner and nothing for you to accept or decline.
- Our analytics are cookieless and aggregate, so there is no analytics cookie to switch off.
- You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time, though strictly-necessary cookies (such as the Snapshot-form bot check) may affect how those parts of the site work.
